Built by and for North American Strategists

Intro:

There is no shortage of planning schools out there but The APG School of Strategic Goodness is different. It's:

  • Local: Taught by some of the biggest name strategists in North America.
  • Accessible: Classes range in price from $49-69 CAD per class
  • Relevant: Mastering strategic planning is not a one-and-done. The best strategists are always learning which is why we have designed classes for every level of experience.

How it works:

Students can register for one class, two or all 10. Each virtual class will be 60 min in length and includes a lecture and interactive component. All registrants will have access to the class recording, class deck, and APG Slack community where you can continue the conversation with our instructors . Please note, registration for all classes closes at 12pm EST the day prior.

Plus those who enrol in 5 or more classes will also get:

  • Certificate of Completion

What it costs:

How to take your planning from "Good to Oh My Goodness!" Fresh takes from the who's who of planning across Canada and the US...there are always ways to make yourself even better at what you do.

This isn’t another refrain of “consumer personas” are dead. Rather, it’s an empathy-led exploration of how the realities we’re living today are shaping seemingly contradictory behavior in people. And how it impacts our feelings, where we seek comfort, humor, and security, and that all in turn influences buying decisions.

We have more data at our fingertips than ever. AI is even able to approximate an insight. What will be strategists’ role when answers are instantaneous? Strategists’ greatest contribution may soon be the question. This class shows how a Big Inquiry equips strategists for the future and makes getting to the Big Idea less of a big deal.

Perhaps the single most important thing strategists do is take clients and creative partners on a journey into someone else’s life — someone you need them to empathize with so that when you convince them of what they’re up against, why you’re fighting for them, and how you’ll do that, your clients and partners are all in. People experience their lives as one event after another and honest portraits of people should consider doing the same. So I offer the timeline as a tool so simple it feels like a cheat code to developing deep understanding of an issue, an innovation, a cohort, and culture.

Most strategy decks are full of information, data, and frameworks but very few actually make it meaningful. This session explores the art of storytelling, with the help of OG storyteller himself, Aristotle. We’ll discuss how to structure narratives, explore tone, and create stories that make everyone—from clients to coworkers—want to listen.

I had to become the head of a department full of strategists before I understood a lot of things that would have made me much better at being one. This is a workshop about those things. Come if you want to make better decisions, organise your work more effectively, and spend your time in more useful and rewarding ways.

It's easier than ever to default to the myopic process of strategy, following linear paths that lead everyone to the same reports, the same answers, the same work. To get to real insights, you need to look where others won't - outside of your office and your comfort zone. This session is about how to turn research into a creative superpower, following your curiosity to the experts, experiences, and conversations nobody else thought to have.

If an idea launches in the woods and no one sees it, did it really happen? Most good ideas don't fail because they're bad—they fail because nobody saw them. We'll get into the Connection Strategies that turn a good idea into one people actually notice.

The last 20 years have promoted technology and all of its principles and processes to a new kind of orthodoxy. It's not just the technologies themselves dominating our lives, but their approaches to creativity have been swallowed hook, line and sinker by every industry. As AI accelerates this reliance on technology even further, we risk losing some of the core skills that have always driven the creative process: Instinct, intuition and empathy.

Culture is not a moodboard, a trend report, or a pile of screenshots. This class is about how to identify meaningful cultural signals, interpret what they reveal about shifting values and behavior, and turn them into strategic choices that shape a brand’s positioning, voice, and creative direction. Participants will leave with a practical framework for moving from “this feels relevant” to an idea that can actually organize work.

Humanism is a philosophy (and a practice) that places human beings at the centre of how we think, decide, and act. This course blends brand strategy, human-centred design thinking, and humanist philosophy to give students a richer, more purposeful approach to branding. It's not just about how a brand looks or sounds—it's about what a brand believes and how those beliefs show up in every touchpoint, decision, and relationship.
