UNION is seeking an Intermediate or Senior Strategic Planner to bring innovative and insightful strategic thinking to our client’s business and help inspire great creative work. You are a storyteller, a brand builder, a cultural expert, the voice of the consumer and an igniter of idea that solve problems.

Reporting to the Director of Strategy, you will work closely with the account and creative teams to develop strategic plans, as well as working with cross-functional teams to plan and pitch to prospective clients.

  • The Role
    Uncover fresh and compelling insights and find ways to link those findings to a larger idea
  • Establish good working relationship with clients’ brands. Responsible for day-to-day management of all research relating to the brand and advertising.
  • Work closely with the creative team to ensure concepts are communicated effectively and align with the creative strategy
  • Participate in and lead brainstorms to develop creative concepts for programs of all types
  • Able to create strong creative briefs that inspire great work and partner with account and creative teams on brand positioning development
  • Ability to clearly articulate a strategic vision in a confident and persuasive manner to clients and teams
  • Monitor cultural and social trends, and their impact on consumers’ attitudes, behaviour and perceptions
  • Formulate, nurture and debate an objective point of view on creative work that is constructive and inventive; judge creative ideas for their uniqueness and effectiveness
  • Support the development of agency generated content including the writing of web content, advertising campaigns, award submissions and thought leadership pieces

What it takes

  • 3+ years of strong brand planning experience, with a channel neutral mindset
  • A solid campaign portfolio demonstrating innovative and effective work across both digital and traditional media
  • Thorough researcher with experience commissioning and conducting various types of research
  • Appetite for finding new and innovative ways to solve problems outside of traditional communication solutions
